After a successful playing career at both MOC-FV High School and Northwestern College, B.J. went on to coach and teach at the high school level for nine years. Desiring to work with basketball players on a more specific and individual level, B.J. established the B.E.S.T. Shooting School in 1994. With its emphasis on individual attention and fundamentals, B.E.S.T. is one of the fastest growing basketball fundamental programs in the nation and now instructs over 3,000 students each year, ranging from elementary students to NBA players. B.J. also continues to speak at numerous camps and clinics in both the United States and around the world. His enthusiasm for the development of players remains the same whether he is working with a middle school student or a member of the 2008 Chinese Olympic Basketball teams! B.J. and his wife Denise have two sons, Kyler and Keegan. Some of B.J.’s more accomplished students include Kyle Korver - All-American, and currently with the Atlanta Hawks, Brandon Woudstra – NAIA 2003 National Player of the Year and European Professional, Deb Remmerde – 2003 Iowa’s Miss Basketball, Nate Funk – Creighton University and European Pro, Kelsey Bolte – Iowa State Cyclones, All-Big 12, and Michael Gesell – South Sioux City, Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year.
